Having been through emergency surgery just last week (successfully!), thank you for articulating how I feel so well. In particular, your comment about facing fear but feeling calm and certain, resonated with me. Sending all my love to your family in the coming weeks xx

I'm so sorry about your daughter's illness and I hope she recovers easily from the surgery. My son has been battling cancer for the last 16 months. While hospitals don't have beds for family members, you can almost always get a recliner chair, but sometimes you have to ask. Ask the nurse manager on your daughter's floor (or the kindest nurse!) for a recliner chair, a pillow, and a blanket for yourself. It will help you sleep (a little) better. Sending you healing vibes <3

I'm so sorry to hear that your daughter needs surgery, I think that a sick child, no matter how old, are every parents worst nightmare. I hope that both surgery and recovery run smoothly and that you can all put this behind you. I thoght about what my priorities should be and family is defintely first, something that has never really been is my health, but i injured my knee 2 weeks ago and after an MRI it turns out that I have a stress fracture on my medial tibia. Now I have to rest and find out the root cause of the fracture, so I have to make my health a priority.

I am a Christian (but don't attend regular services anymore). I am praying for Emilie and your family. My husband had a stroke at age 58 in 2016. I know the feeling of forgetting to breathe. Our lives changed overnight. He is doing well, still has small residual damage, but it could have been much worse. We were very fortunate. Take good care.

Everything you shared about prioritizing is so true. I intend to do the exercise as I definitely need to step away from a couple - maybe even a few - things. All the best to Em, you and your family. Sending positive thoughts and holding all of you in prayer.
