I’m ready to take the challenge! I tend to get drawn in by the “latest lipstick shade”-type marketing even though I reach for the same tried and true shade every time I wear it. The 29 days in February 2024 will allow me to assess what I already own, whether it’s lipstick, candles, clothes or anything else. Then I can ask myself if there’s anything I need. I have a strong feeling the answer will be nothing.

Love that. Ditto but for lipgloss. Excited to rediscover and use what I have! x

This is a great resource as I try to do my yearly work wardrobe revamp (I work outside and things get thrashed)- I struggle with thrift shopping for pants and more fitted items so excited to look at the websites people mentioned here :)

Hi! Found you via morning person, read your first book, waiting for your second to arrive. Been doing a deep dive declutter in the last month, which has been very satisfying.

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on what you use to the bitter end so to speak. I appreciate the idea of buying less and buying the right thing.

And what you said here has been on my mind:

“Even as a card carrying minimalist, I’m definitely guilty of spending far more time than I would like browsing, buying, and returning things in search of the exact-right-best-thing.” Sometimes I worry looking for the just right thing is really just another way to stay on the wheel of always needing things. I can definitely see the benefits of a buy nothing month for this.

Putting out there as a potential post idea. What are your tools for knowing when the thing you have is just good enough? Basically would love to hear more on balancing curation of things that work really well and buying less/making do with what you have.

Excited for this buy nothing February. Thanks!

Ooh really good juicy questions and love the future post idea! The things I use to the bitter end before replacing include sunscreen, skincare, haircare, and cosmetics. I've found a few brands that work well for me, so I basically just buy my favorite few and then restock when I'm out instead of experimenting and accumulating. I tend to be more fickle with clothing and accessories so def a work in progress there. This month, my mission is to shift my energy towards creativity and resourcefulness and away from consumption and the endless quest for the elusive next great thing! x

Hi! So exited to join the challenge! I’m a new one in here and quite not familiar with the app yet. Is there particular place I need to be looking for printable work book and video. Appreciate the guidance in advance!

This is such a good idea. I've been trying to buy exclusively secondhand, mostly via Vinted b/c I don't have the patience for charity shop trawling. The only exception is boots- dropped my boots off for a 10 day repair on the 10th of December, and they haven't been seen since - and I suspect they've gotten lost or irreprably damaged somewhere. But that feels like a legitmate exception- I've had them for at least 6 or 7 years and made a good faith effort to seek out repair, and I can't keep wearing wellie boots and doing swapsies before meetings.

Vinted is a great resource I always forget about - I've also had good luck on Poshmark, eBay, and Real Real when I know exactly what brand and size I need. x
