Thanks, Shira!! I loved doing the interview. Also, if anyone is interested, i'm running a 30-day phone breakup challenge over on my substack, with a private support group chat for paid subscribers where we're helping each other make our way through the plan. More info is here: https://catherineprice.substack.com/p/announcing-the-february-phone-breakup-4fc I'd love to have some of your community join us!

Absolutely needed to read this!! The 4 hours of phone usage a day equating to over 2 months is a wild statistic to think about!!

I read Catherine's book a while back: Loved reading this interview. It was the gentle nudge I needed to really think about breaking up with my phone right now.

I absolutely loved this read. Thank you! Our phones are a huge part of our overall life, especially since they do so much more than make calls. I appreciate not making them the bad guy but making us more aware of living. I can't stop thinking about Catherine's comment about being with her daughter in the middle of the night with her daughter looking at her, but she's looking at her phone. That haunts me. I don't have children, but I have a dog I love very much and who I know loves me. When she's looking up at me while we are snuggling, and I am on my phone, I put it down immediately. I don't even keep it in reach much anymore. It's all about connectivity with other living beings. Especially those that fully depend on us and are fully engaged with us. We owe it to them and ourselves to be present.

Thanks for this wonderful article! I deleted all social media from my phone several years ago, and not too long ago, I also deleted all web browsers from my phone as well. Now I use my phone only for taking photos, calling/texting, GPS, and listening to audiobooks. (I do have a laptop for work, so I still have web access that way.) I don't know if I'll keep it like this forever, but I've been feeling a lot better and more relaxed since I deleted the web browsers.
