When I answered the questions, I realized I'd already done the one small thing. I filled out an application to be a foster for the local animal shelter. The right dog hasn't shown up yet, but when she does, she will check all the boxes for me.

Oh, brilliant! I love this. xx

Thank you so much for doing this! We just adopted our second rescue dog six months ago after losing our first one to old age, and his foster family were just so incredibly wonderful and generous! I still text her photos of him.

This is a lovely article - no act is too small. Like a pebble thrown in the water, you never know where the ripples will go.

I also like to ask myself "what do I see other people doing that I am interested in... And what gaps do I have in my knowledge to get there?"

This is how I start a lot of my home DIY projects!

I love those questions! xx

When I was fresh out of College and not quite ready for a 9 to 5 job I worked several small jobs. it gave me time, confidence to find out what I wanted to do and eventually through a job as a hostess started working for the company that hired me for the next 5 years. You don't need the perfect forever job immediately, you can try a bit first.

Yes! I love the idea of conducting tiny experiments throughout life instead of putting so much pressure on ourselves to pick the right perfect thing xx

Yes! Like Emily P Freeman says, “You can’t think your way through a ‘doing’ question.” Great post!

Ooh never heard that but I love it and will remember it! xx

Love this and agree 💯 appreciate the reminder as it’s so easy to get stuck in too many options and do nothing

I’m signing up for a dance class and making room to tweak a proposal 💕

Yay yay! xx

I blocked off one hour in my calendar this week to work on my personal website. I keep stalling out and overthinking/procrastinating. I just need to get in there and do it!

In a Zumba class 13 years ago I heard a song with some castanets in it. I googled for Spanish dance classes close to me, found two teachers, emailed both and went for a trial class the next week. Danced with her for 9 years and when she moved started dancing with the other teacher. From that decision I have 4 new friends and something that brings me weekly joy.

Thank you for this encouragement and these prompts! I don't normally follow prompts (at least not right away when I read a post), but felt the tug to take a few minutes. Glad I did! Feel like I've cleared a portion of my mental block! Thank you!

Oh, that makes me so happy! xx

Thank you so much for this. I needed to get this reminder today when my head seems to be all over the place (okay, all week so far).

Can you re-link the hair mask? It just takes me to the homepage

Shira Gill's avatar

It's the Renewal Hydrating Mask from Crown Affair - the link works on my end, but I bet you can just Google and it will come right up - now sold out on their site but available elsewhere! xx

"Because motion creates clarity in a way overthinking never can." A gentle reminder that I want ingrained in my brain in times of overwhelm.

Thanks for the great article Shira. This was so timely for me, as in a period of feeling so stuck and on the wrong path career wise. I will be doing this to see what comes up.

One small thing I've done in the past - nervously DMing a local singing teacher/choir leader about doing private lessons...3 years on I'm not on exactly stage or in a band, but it's opened up a new spark in my life that hasn't only given me joy but also pushed my out of my comfort zone and helped my confidence in so many ways that have spilled into other areas of my life.
