My heart is heavy from the devastation from the Los Angeles wildfires. The beautiful shop that just hosted my book launch party is gone. My dear friends have lost homes and businesses. Children have lost their schools. It’s incomprehensible and heartbreaking beyond belief.
📌 How to Support Los Angeles
If you’re looking to for ways to help, consider making a donation to the following organizations who are working tirelessly to support the LA community:
If you know individuals or families who are victims of the fire, best to send gift cards or money directly for immediate relief, as organizations can take longer to distribute.
New Resource: Born out of the entertainment industry community, Zello Support is matching fire victims with furniture, secure storage, and even temporary housing. Get support here or make a tax deductible donation here.
New Resource: Visit this compilation of fundraising pages for families who’ve lost homes due to the LA fires. All donations go directly to the families.
If you know of other ways to help, please let me know so I can share them here. 🙏🏼
📌 Emergency Evacuation Checklist
If you’re facing evacuation, having a plan can make all the difference. Here’s a helpful reminder to grab the “Six P’s”:
People and Pets (don’t forget pet food and baby formula!)
Papers – Important documents and phone numbers
Prescriptions – Medications and eyeglasses
Photos – Irreplaceable keepsakes
Personal Computer – Hard drives and devices
Plastic – Credit cards and cash
Additionally, for those in Los Angeles:
Airbnb is offering free temporary housing.
Uber is providing free rides up to $40 with code WILDFIRE25.
To my beloved Los Angeles community: you are in my heart. I hope you’re safe, surrounded by loved ones, and finding moments of support and kindness during this unimaginable time. Sending so much love. 🙏🏼
