I live with the simplicity of washing sheets and remaking the bed weekly. However, I have plenty of extra pillowcases; I change my pillowcase every 2-3 days because it keeps my facial skin happier!
I also have extra pillowcases, it really is good for your skin, just like face towels , they need to be replaced with a clean one at the most every second day, preferably daily , otherwise you just keep spreading bacteria on your clean face.
Exactly! I don’t want to put whatever is on my hair (product, dirt) on my very sensitive face! Good point about face towels - I change them and the pillowcases 2-3x/week.
Great post! We are a family of four (all adults) who live in a 400 yr old French mediaeval stone house in France. We don't have any outdoor space so laundry takes days to dry and even with a dryer I have found, so I can strip and re make the beds straight away I'm better with two sets of sheets and pillowcases per bed and 2 towels pp plus a few extra for guests better and basically as one set is always on the bed I am only storing one set at any given time. I also have a lux airbnb in my French village and I have 2 x full sets including duvet covers per bed as I often have guests leaving and coming same day- I need to get in get out quick. I found this the best for my family and business but DEFINITELY no more than two! I am currently creating a new laundry space in my garage (Ive gone 10 years with no laundry). I may be able to change this when I have somewhere to properly dry laundry! xx Bisous from France Corrina xx

There's do much to do in our authentic French Village abd great day trips to nearby places too. Feel free to contact me directly for more travel information... you'll l9ve it! The house is French minimalist xx
We keep two sets of sheets/duvet covers, but 1 is a summer/fall set (percale) and 1 is a winter/spring set (flannel) bc we don’t have central heating. I have been wanting to try linen though, to see if it may transcend all the seasons better.
Curious, do you use coyuchi for hand towels in the bathroom as well? Appreciate the pared down listing! We have a single bathroom in our house as well, so we’ve been working our way towards more of a capsule collection of higher end/intentional house items all around. However we also have a baby on the way!
Flannel is a nice addition! We have one Coyuchi hand towel in our tiny bathroom on a hook and don't use washcloths - just use our own bath towels which are always hanging in the bathroom. x
"My essay on how to catch and curb your complaining habit was published by Katie Couric Media." What a great article Shira! Thank you so much for sharing tips on navigating and changing the complaining habit. I loved it.
I was literally just thinking last night 'how many old towels do I really need for our dog' - you've answered my question! I've been tossing old, stained kitchen hand towels (how did I amass so many?!)
Fun to see where you put your new wallpaper! I have one back up set per person in my house, but at this stage of children and animals, it’s a must. There might be a time when we graduate to only the set on the bed! The plus side I’ve found is that I can immediately make the beds once I’ve stripped them, which means no surprises late at night when I come in and find I forgot to make my bed because I was waiting for the dryer and got distracted.
I love Coyuchi and have been slowly replacing my bedding and towels over the last five years. I’m curious how many washcloths and hand towels you keep stocked. Do you use a liner with the shower curtain? The comb is very pretty. Where is it from? Thanks for sharing!
We own one hand towel and zero washcloths! Our bathroom is so miniscule that we just hang our bath towels on hooks and use those to dry our faces. I could probably invest in another hand towel or two if I'm being honest ;)
I outsource laundry once a month and change bed linen once a week so require three sets of sheets. I too upgraded to French linen sheets, down pillows, and duvet cover for quality and texture. Favorite towels are imported from Turkey by Oddbird, a woman owned business based in California committed to purchasing from family centered artisans. Same with bathrobe and blankets for guests. Turkish from Oddbird. For overnight guests I used organic cotton sheets on the futon in the study. Less expensive than French linen flax, but eco-friendly, soft, and cool. Hopefully years before necessary upgrades.
I’m a one sheet set per bed kinda girl, too. We really could just go to one bath towel per person since none of us (family of three) change out our bath towel more than weekly. I have three per person because I read we’re “supposed” to change them out every 2 or 3 days for hygienic reasons. I have enough hand towels to have a fresh one every day (again because I read it’s the hygienic thing to do.) But practically speaking, I switch them every 3 or 4 days. I only wash towels once a week. I’m working on finding a happy balance between the right amount of linens for our lifestyle while still being hygienic.
We definitely have more than one set of bedding for each of us and we have a guest bedroom that also has more than one set, OOPPSSS!!!! I love crisp ironed bed sheets so I need time to wash, air dry and iron, so one set is not going to work for me. But I can definitely say goodbye to some towels that are not as plush and fluffy as they could be. I do love high thread count bedding ( 800 is the sweet spot for us), which is always more expensive, but worth it, as it also lasts a really long time.
Always two sets of sheets for me! I don’t use a tumble dryer, so doing it all in one day would be very tricky. This way I can change the sheets, put fresh ones on, and then pop my sheets in the laundry basket for when I actually have a chance to do that load of laundry

Oh, interesting - I bet you still save a ton of space paring down on sheets though! x
Absolutely a space saver, and it’s easier to fold pillow cases, for sure!

Hi,
I’m interested in the matelasse style bedspread in the photo. Can you identify where it is from please?
Thanks!
Ahh, it was a hand-me-down from a friend years ago, but this one is quite similar - https://go.shopmy.us/p-11842649

So 6 towels total? ;) ty 💕it’s so pretty and simple!! Love it
Yup! 4x big Coyuchi bath towels and two smaller ones I tuck away for guests. x

Totally checks out - we needed multiple sets when the kids were wee ones! x
